4 Quick Tips for Business Letters
In class, we’re learning the basics of business-related writing. When writing letters, it would be prudent to keep these things in mind:
- If one starts a letter with “Dear Sir”, it should be signed “Yours Faithfully”. If one starts a letter with “Dear Mrs/Mr”, it ought to be signed “Yours Sincerely”
- Make the subject clear within the first sentence. Give details.
- Keep it short, sweet, and polite. What separates a business letter from a personal one is firm, non-emotional, polite language.
- Letters should be proofread. Nothing is worse than coming across to a business contact that you’re incapable of running a spellchecker.
